History: Trey is a Capitolite born and raised. He's lived a privileged, luxurious life, watching tributes from the districts fight and die for the joint entertainment of his home. He's as jaded as many of the locals, but his observational humor takes no prisoners, this is most certainly a product of his upbringing. His family owns a chain of prominent and popular bars, they live for hosting and parties and quite often profited off the suffering of the districts in doing so. Trey worked in the bars as soon as he was able before spreading his wings and leaving the nest to host more and more gatherings and events on his own terms.
Part of his natural ability to entertain is in his quick wit and his adept ability to keep up with the times and the fashions. Hosting turned to stand up comedy and his increasing popularity as a comedian got him into all kinds of media events as a guest and a performer. Of course, it's not just his humor and his charisma that earned him such popularity, he owes that to Très Jolie.
Cutting edge fashion is nothing new in the Capitol, but Trey had always found male fashion to be a little repetitive and a little cliche. His passion didn't just lie in hosting and entertaining, but in crafting and sewing. There's nothing he enjoys more than a flawless silhouette and great hair, so the road to experimenting further into more alternative realms of fashion had always been open for him. When he was beginning his own career in hosting, he was also dabbling with the possibility of making a new persona for himself. Trey is great, but Trey is quite withdrawn and attached to a family with a bigger reputation than his own. To break apart from that and step into his own life and to give that snarky voice in his head a sort of outlet for its attitude. Of course, it also stems from his personal life and an appreciation of femininity and all that entails. Strong men to Trey are boring, strong women have more presence and more character. He'd always found himself backing and admiring the female tributes, so in his own subtle way he hopes to emulate the characteristics that make them so damn famous. An appreciation for dressing up and putting on a show and a character made drag desirable the moment Trey laid eyes on a soon to be fellow queen. For Trey, it's not out of an interest in becoming an honest to god woman day in and day out, it's a creative outlet that he can invest both acting skills and crafting skills into.
Drag is perhaps not the ideal future a family has in mind for their son, but his talent with fabric, make up and of course a hellish amount of charisma and determination convinced the most skeptical of minds. However, his intention was always to stray a little from the family name and make a name for himself. Years of taking any kind of gigs got him noticed by some big names, some big names influenced him into bigger events. Soon he was doing hosting and interviews for bigger audiences.
Unfortunately, a smart mouth can only take you so far in a place like the Capitol. Trey isn't so stupid as to outwardly insult Snow or question the government, but there had been some higher ups unimpressed with more than few comments of his. A little grilling lead to something more of a barbeque and soon he was very firmly asked to step down from his position. Luckily, he escaped without death threats against himself of his family, but his career as a prominent entertainer was certainly over.
Fortunately, Trey isn't so easily defeated. With one career in the ashes, he'd been quick to focus on a new one, just a little more low-key. He'd taken what little influence he had left and take it into an older passion, styling. It doesn't take someone with his talent for dressing and sewing long to rise through the ranks of styling in order to take his place as the head stylist of District Eight. Or, rather, her place. Reluctant to retire Jolie permanently, Trey incorporates her into his daily life by simply making her play the role of stylist. As Jolie, it's far easier to connect with tributes, critique the team and garner sponsors. He's at his leisure to be at the forefront of fashion in both suits and gowns, it's entirely dependent on his mood and inspiration. However, in drag he is first and foremost a character and entertainer, so it's a little boundary he's set up between himself and the tributes he will inevitably send off to die. As Jolie he can herd them like the cats they are, avoiding real attachment beyond nagging and fussing, but ideally they would never come to know him as Trey.
He's maintained his position as head stylist for ten years, making him respectable amongst sponsors even after his faux pas some years back. Yet, despite his considerable rank, he likes to keep his hold on District Eight, enjoying the artistic liberties he can take with textiles and having claimed it as his District.
Presentation: Trey is in the shortest terms, a force to be reckoned with. He is an extremely talented man and he has dedicated most of his life to honing his skill set. Some people are warriors, some people fight with knives and swords. Trey is an entertainer and his weapons are costumes and charisma.
His presentation can vary in and out of drag. Outside of drag he's calm, professional and prone to quiet observation more than anything. You'll rarely see him out of a suit when he's out of drag, but very few people in the Hunger Games business will be afforded such a privilege. He's a charmer and very good with people, but he prefers to keep himself to himself when he's not at work. It's something of a defense mechanism because he's great at making friends but pretty damn bad at keeping them. These feelings are of course intensified when Tributes he forms a bond with are sent off to fight and die. It's very important for him to set up a degree of separation between himself and what he perceives as his clients.
In drag, you'd hardly know the two are the same. Jolie is loud, nosy and not ashamed or afraid of being crass or overstepping boundaries. Since Jolie is the degree of separation in a sense, it's easier for him to connect with people through her. She meddles, but she does it out of concern. She won't send tributes out looking like sloppy messes, not when it could cost them sponsors. Trey understands that his career is dependent on making sure that his little chickies are dressed to impress and getting the attention of the Capitol. Sometimes that does require a little tough love, and Jolie isn't afraid to vocalise the observations that Trey makes.
Motivations:
Trey is, in general, a pretty motivated guy. He's an over-achiever and a hard worker, once he sets his sights on something he'll fight tooth and nail to make it happen. That said, he isn't the type to throw himself into devastation if something doesn't work out for himself, if only because he thinks he's better than that. If he broke up with someone he wouldn't lie around on the couch crying, he'd push himself to go out and find a hottie (and possibly regret it later, such is pushing yourself). He's a goal orientated guy, but he's good at setting goals to adjust to his capabilities. He was raised well enough to know what he's capable of, but also to set his sights on the very best he can attain.
That said, he isn't devoid of flaws. Trey can be an incredibly aggressive competitor, even if he can accept defeat. While most of the time he's reasonably calm and more observant than commanding, when he puts on a dress he can become a bit of a scene stealing know it all. He has a "been there done that" perspective thanks to his extensive career and past experiences. When he's in his element, he can become arrogant to the point of condescending and abrasive. He never wants to hear that he's wrong, particularly from someone he doesn't respect as a mentor or a senior to him. So that's... pretty much nobody, in his eyes. He could use a slice of humble pie.
His aggressive and competitive attitude can make it hard to keep friends around. He can be a lot of annoying to handle at once, but he also has a tendency to get wrapped up in his work. He has a few close friends and he thinks that's all he'll need, so he tries his best not to let Tributes grow on him. Unfortunately, it isn't as easily done as it is said. How his tributes fair in garnering Capitol favor is a reflection of himself, he needs to dress them and give them pointers and follow them up to the last legs before the Arena. It's hard not to find yourself a little attached to something that you built up with such attention and dedication, it's part of the reason he uses Jolie as his presentation when he's working. The other part is mostly because he thinks a fancy gown is far more fun to network in than suits, and doing so allows him to feel more confident and outspoken.
Whilst in Jolie, he feels detached enough and free enough to snark up a storm with his observations, but it totally comes from a place of love. When he can allow himself to interfere and meddle more, he can work on making things run and work as seamlessly as he would like to. Getting to know tributes a little better and offering them support will reflect so much better on him in the long run, though he can't pretend it's all for his own ego. Deep down it satisfies a need to get involved in everything and a need to extend help where it's possible. A lot of his blunt remarks come from a well meaning perspective, but he'll be the last person to let you know that.

[The first and most important thing for Trey to note is that they are asking for his opinion, not Jolie's. He's not sure whether it's a relief or a burden, but he certainly feels a little wary about approaching it. Ever since his publicity hiccup, he's been careful about expressing opinions, particularly when he's meant to be presenting himself as a character. It makes it difficult to muster up the courage to put himself out there with his opinions, but he greatly dislikes being waited on. He won't be perceived as being a coward in a public arena.]
From a Stylist's point of view, I'd be lying if I didn't say the change excites me. After years and years of working with kids from the same District, it's great to get a whole range of people to work with. Sure, it's more intensive, but what you've got to remember is that these people are coming in with stories. Every one of them has something new and interesting about them, and as a Stylist it's my job to express that while taking the illustrious history of their district and The Games into account when I do.
I've never been more challenged in my entire career and I have to say, I'm loving it.
Prose:
"Well, well. If I'd known I was going to my funeral, I would have worn something black." He claps his hands together in front of him as he drawls, the sound echoing through the room as he tries to fill the deafening silence. He certainly isn't dressed for the occasion, it's a tight, red and well fitted number matched with an equally inappropriate pair of heels. He feels pretty goddamn ridiculous wearing it when he can feel the eyes of the panel boring into him, but he's always been a guy in a dress. That's his bit, he'll sell it if he has to. But why does he have to? Is this the comeuppance he'd been waiting for all those years ago? He know he went too far with his joking around about the higher ups, but if he'd known it'd get him thrown down the drain with the other suckers he'd have said something much funnier.
"Tough crowd." He murmurs, trying to ignore the prickle at the back of his neck as cold sweat starts to form. Don't shake, don't let them see the cracks. Show them the crack- moon them. Fuck off that's an awful idea. If he's going down, he's going down kicking the only way he knows how, being a goddamn mouthy bitch.
"Man, you guys are really scraping the barrel here, huh? First you bring in the giant bunny, then you're dragging in the man in heels? Honeys, if you want a show, pour me a goddamn drink first and we can get started." He shrugs in that 'amiritetho' fashion, holding his hands up in confusion. God he wishes he had a scotch, or a mic to wave around. He always felt so much more confident with something that made him really fucking loud, but he's got to take the plunge and make his point already. "Y'know, I was wondering what the hell they did with old mops when they wore out, but it looks like this guy has been making them into hair pieces." He points a finger at his first victim, quirking a brow. "Listen buddy, I don't need to ask your wife if the carpet matches the drapes. Cuz I know damn well you ain't ever gonna grow hair that thick in your lifetime- but that's nearly over anyway, ain't it? We can genetically enhance fucking cheese but you'd need some goddamn witchcraft to get your sorry ass looking a day under eighty." He snorts and shrugs her shoulders, grazing her eyes over to the next target, moving his hand to point at all of the judges as he insults them one by one. "Nice suit, how long'd it take you to stitch together all them trash bags? Nice ass- oh sorry- that's your face. Never go bald with a mug like that, pal. If the light ain't reflecting hard enough it's too easy to see that botched nose job. Hey buddy, if those shoulders matched those hips any better I'd be telling you to put the dress on."
With that, he'll draw in a deep breath, unable to stop himself from shivering just a little at getting it all out. If he wasn't in deep shit before, he is now. "You like that? Score me a ten, go ahead. Killing me isn't gonna make that hairline recede any less."
